Blitzkrieg Strategies During World War II

World War II began on June 22, in 1941. Three million solders from Germany began to attack the soviet union. People say that the war was supposed to only last two or three months, but it eventually went from three months, to five months, then nine months, and eventually it lasted four years. In the first part of World War II, Germany did not want to have a long war, so they came up with a strategy /to avoid a long war. Germany's strategy was to limit the fighting by fighting their opponents in short "campaigns". Germany quickly found a new tactic and because of that much of Europe and was victorious for more than two years by relying on a new military tactic called the "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war). With this tactic, it caused a lot of shock and caused their enemy's to become disorganized and trying to scatter to their defense weapons. Another thing was that German air weapons prevented the enemy from getting enough resources or deploying forces and sending reinforcements and backup to seal the breaches that the Germans made in the front. German forces could in turn form a circle around opposing troops, thus making them surrender. The Germans successfully used this blitzkrieg tactic against France, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, the Norway, Luxembourg, Poland, Yugoslavia, and Greece. The one country Germany did not defeat was Great Britain. They were protected from Germany's ground attack by the english channel and the Royal Navy.
