Striated muscles (Skeleton muscles)- support the skeleton and allow movement. Voluntary muscles.
Smooth muscles- contract slowly and rhythmically and do not tire easily. Involuntary.
Cardiac- make up most of the inner walls of heart. Consist of y-shaped muscle fibers when they contract they work together to make the walls of the heart shrink. Involuntary.
Hinge- back and forth movement in one dimension, eg. Elbow
Ball and socket- good rotation. Eg. Hip joint.
Condyloid - some rotation as well as back and forth movement. Eg. Wrist joint
Pivot- turning from side to side. Eg. Below skill at top of backbone.
Role of skeletal system- protection, movement and support. 1. Lungs give oxygenated blood to left atrium through the pulmonary vein. 2. From the left atrium it goes to the left ventricle through the tricuspid valve. 3. The aorta takes the oxygenated blood to all the arteries. 4. The superior and interior venacava take the blood from all the veins and put it in the right atrium. 5. The right atrium gives blood to right ventricle through the bicuspid valve 6. The pulmonary artery takes the deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle and gives it to the lungs.
Circulatory system transports nutrients, oxygen, wastes and other materials to different places in the human body.
Plasma- liquid port of blood.
Three types of blood vessels: arteries (transport oxygenated blood away from heart under high pressure), veins (transport deoxygenated blood from the capillaries back to the heart under low pressure), and capillaries (exchange oxygen, water and dissolved nutrients through cells).
Respiratory system helps us breathe using the lungs.
Biceps are top muscles, triceps bottom.
