Blood Donation Speech
Topic: Donate Blood.
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to donate blood regularly.

INTRODUCTION
I. Attention Step:
A. Attention Getter: Are you at least 17 year old? Do you weight more than 50kg? Do you fairly healthy? If your answer is yes, you should donate blood every two months. According to the report in Arab Times newspaper Kuwait is in need of 250 blood donors every day, and the demand is likely grow to 400 in the next five years.
B. ID of Opposition/Fair Hearing: I know some of you may hate the thought of needles or think that giving blood won’t really help. But, please consider what I say and make a better informed decision after hearing the benefits I present in this speech.
C. Significance: It is highly probably that you or someone you know will need a blood transfusion. According to the article in the New York Times in 2009, we are the new generation of donors — people in their late teens and early twenties. Article says that this "new generation of donors is the key to blood supply today and tomorrow."
D. Credibility: Through extensive research and personal experience of giving blood, I have learned how important it is to donate blood.

II. Benefits:
A. The Joy of Saving Human Lives: It is such a wonderful feeling being able to help doctors save human lives. There are no perfect substitutes for human blood. The blood you donate is divided into various components according to the needs of patients. Each component can be used by different recipients for various purposes.
B. Free Health Check-up: You can donate blood only if you are fit enough to do so. Before every blood donation process, a series of health check-ups are performed on the donor totally free of cost. This will be of great benefit to you. For example, you will come to know of any blood pressure abnormalities.
