Topic: Organ Donation Post Mortem
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to consider becoming an organ and tissue donor after death.
Thesis: Organ and tissue donation isn’t just an important decision for yourself, but it can also impact and save the lives of so many more.
Intro: Imagine having to wait for something you really want. Could you do it, even if it took months or even years? Now imagine that it was something you literally couldn’t live without. Over 100 thousand people in the United States alone are waiting and have been waiting for organ donations that can save their lives.
I. Someone new is added to the waiting list every 10 minutes.

C. By the end of 2013 there were over 121 thousand patients on the waiting list.
1. Unfortunately, there were only a little over 14 thousand donors, both deceased and living.

3. That’s a lot of people who had to go without.
4. The sad part is that most of them probably never got the organs they needed.
II. There are still a lot of people on the waiting list.

B. It’s a common misconception that your medical history may disqualify you as a donor.

C. Most religions in America support this decision.
1. It’s considered the final act of love and generosity towards others.
2. Organ donation is a charitable and worthwhile decision.
