Problem
o
Does blood pressure change when you are active?
2.
Hypothesis o Blood pressure will increase when physical activity increases. o independent variable is the the stressor or physical activity and the dependant variable is the blood pressure measurement.
3.
Materials o Sphygmomanometer o Lab Journal o
Computer

Pencil
o Paper

Steps
1. Wrap the blood pressure cuff around your partner’s upper arm.
2. Click the green

arrow in the top toolbar.Pump up the cuff using the rubber bulb. 3. Pump the cuff until the pressure reaches 160 mm Hg in the gauge.
4. Stop pumping. The cuff will gradually lose pressure automatically.
5. Record the systolic and diastolic pressures in your laboratory journal.
6. Wait three minutes and repeat steps 15. The person whose blood pressure is being measured should remain seated and relaxed during the wait period.
7. This is the control group
8. Have partner run around building until tired
9. Have partner sit down and take their blood pressure with Logger Pro
10. Record and save data
11. State conclusion
5.
Analyze the data and observations.
● Graphs are included on the back of this paper.
6.
State the conclusion.
Our hypothesis was right after exercise the blood pressure increases due to the amount of activity being done.

Summary Paragraph o
We conducted a previous experiment where we measured Kayla’s blood pressure when she was sitting down and relaxed. She had around normal blood pressure. We designed this experiment to see how blood pressure changes when a person is active. We hypothesized that the blood pressure would go up after activity. We had Kayla run around the hallway until she was tired and then took her blood pressure. It increased as we predicted.
