Blue Winds Dancing Analysis

Heritage is the important part of a person’s life, it will influence you become what kind of person you are. Everyone is born with the difference heritage. Some people respect their heritage, but some people disrespect their heritage. I have read two articles which are “Everyday Use” and “Blue Winds Dancing”. In these two articles, the narrator talks about how character think about their own heritage. We also can see the different conflicts the character facing in the articles. I respect heritage because even though you try to change your native background. In the end, you still were the type of person you belong. This conflict is both internal and external as the narrator searches for his identity and copes with society and ranger respectively. Later, the narrator finally respects of his own heritage and he came back to his hometown. In the story, the narrator says: “We just don’t seem to fit in anywhere--certainly not among the whites, and not among the old people.” The narrator also says: “Suddenly, I am afraid… afraid of what my father will say, afraid of being looked on as a stranger by my own people”. Through these sentences, we can see how narrator lost his direction of which side should he join, and how upset he was. In the article, the narrator also writes: “I try hard to forget school and white people, and be one of these—my people. I try to forget everything but the night, and it is a part of me that I am one with my people and we are all a part of something universal.” Through these sentences, we can see that the narrator finally choose a side which is his native heritage, and he begin try to change himself to let people accept
