Question 1: Outline 3 roles of skin on the human body.
One of the many roles of skin on the human body is protection of the body from many things such as ultra violet rays, deh ydration, infection and physical injuries.
Another role of the skin on the human body is temperature regulation. For example release of heat depending on the outside body temperature.
One of the other roles of skin on the human body is sensation. Sensation is an important function of the skin dermis to detect the different sensations of temperature, contact, pressure and pain.

Question 6: How do sub dermal implants release their medication into the human body?
A sub-Dermal implant is a small silicone tube that contains a small amount of the required medication. The tube is inserted into the body at a point where it is safe to remain under the skin and can still access the bloodstream. It then releases the correct amount of medication into the blood. These sub-dermal implants are able to last for years and when all of the medication is used it is then replaced. this image is a basic sub-dermal implant
Advantages of using sub-dermal implants such as the contraceptive rod are, It is highly effective, it lasts a long time (up to three years), it is reversible and the return to fertility is rapid, it does not require women to remember to take a pill. Some disadvantages for the contraceptive sub dermal implant are that it doesn’t protect the woman from sexually transmitted infections, and that it requires a minor procedure for insertion and removal of the ‘rod’.
