war. And there biggest enemy in the Pacific was Japan. Japan had the largest military in the Pacific coast. After Japan destroy half the US Pacific fleet in the Pearl Harbor attack, killing 2,403 Americans. So, this was the motive for the US to enter World War II. Japanese are loyal and traditional people. They believed that surrendering was a sign of cowardice and disloyal to their country. This become a problem to the American soldiers because Japanese will fight to the end. They saw death as a respect to their country and Emperor. Just to reach the main land Japan it took the US nearly three years and at a cost of 400,000 American soldiers casualties. To get to the Japan the US had to go through several small islands occupy by Japan named the Pacific Rim. This island was full of Japanese military and civilians willing to die for the Emperor of Japan. Not only the island was hostile for the Americans, the weather played another role in slowing down the US. This are some reason I why think it was crucial to drop the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima.
The drop of the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima was crucial because it would save a lot young American soldiers.
Just nearly three years into the war America had lost already 400,000 young American soldiers. The US was starting to prepare to invade Japan’s main land. The US started to draft more young Americans. The US estimated it would need at least five-million-man power to invade Japan’s. At that time, Japan population was around seventy-one million citizens and seven million Japanese soldiers. The US already had drafted more than a million soldiers to support the war in Europe and the Pacific. It would probably take about another five years to overtake Japan. American didn’t want to keep on losing more young men to the war. So, the US went into the dilemma of either keep on with the war and lose more human lives to the war or drop the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima with the hopes it would end the war. And finally, they came to a decision on dropping the bomb. They planned at first to drop the bomb on Tokyo Japans capital city and most populated city at that time. The bomb would’ve killed more than a million civilians. So, they decided to drop the bomb on Hiroshima which it’s was a smaller city and with a smaller population than
Tokyo.
In conclusion, I must agree that bombing Hiroshima was necessary to end World War II. I know it sounds harsh but many lives were saved. The war would’ve lasted another five years before Japan surrender to the US. If the war would’ve lasted another five years, it could have claim at least twenty million lives especially Japanese lives. But the bombing of Hiroshima had both negative and positive outcomes. The negative part was that does lives lost were the bomb landed will never be found and the radiation from the bomb affected a lot of Japanese. The radiation had several health issues for the Japanese over the coming years. And on the positive side, after the US bomb Hiroshima it became the super power that is today. The US economy boom and the work labor increased in large numbers. This is when women also joined the working labor and helped specially when the war was going on. They ran the country during three years. They were the back bone of America. I don’t really condemn the bombing specially because a lot of innocent people died that day and specially kids, but it was crucial in ending World War II.
