James sharply turned away and opened the door. He strode out of the shop, slamming the door behind him, barely allowing the hinges to keep hold of themselves. James saw an umpteen amount of people on the busy streets. Most wore simple clothes which were worn out and shabby. He looked at them with disgust and denied their begging. After venturing over the cracked cobblestone road and through the crowds, James reached the wood. As he continued moving to his mansion, James swore under his breath about how needy people are. Stepping along the cleared path to his house, he reached the hedges. They towered at least fifteen feet tall and were present on both sides of the path. The rows began abruptly; they were the barrier between James’s world and the common folk’s world. After the massive hedges cleared to an open field, James could see his large home in an idyllic setting. It’s distinct Greek architecture had many pillars with exquisite Corinthian capitals. There were twenty arches connecting them engraved with complex designs. The entire house was made of marble which glimmered in the sun making the house appear to hold a yellow hue. James drew open the large wooden door and strode to the parlor where he expected his mother and father to be waiting. As he approached the baby blue room, James dragged his hand along the wall’s molding. He leaned in to give his mother a hug and firmly shake his father's hand. After telling his parents about his day, the sun began to hang low in the sky, creating long shadows which stretched out on the floor towards James. Being told to get ready for bed, James trudged upstairs disappointed because of going to bed earlier than usual. James slipped under the covers of his bed and blew out the candle resting on his small dresser. His mother strolled into the room and kissed him on his forehead telling him goodnight. She left him to sleep and silently closed the door. As James closed his eyes, the distant sound of crickets chirping and owls hooting filled his head as he drifted to sleep.
