Book Review: Ishmael
"This is an inspirational novel! Nevertheless reviews are reading the book issued a cliché, but it is the most appropriate conclusion. Why this book does not greatly popular? Why General Education did not book as required reading bibliography?
Book tried from the edge to the center to watch and thinking. Center, refers to the "human world cultural tradition of the core”, the book cited by Western thinking for the based. Interestingly, the "center" it is because of the human being positioning above all things, therefore the resulting in the concept. But human beings are superior significance of this really so? Cultural tradition for this appears to be on the progress of the world, for the benefit of human life, if so, why before humans appeared and evolved over three million years, the world over on more live better; but now the rise of civilization, but five hundred generations, the world environmental protection, ecology, resources, economy, population but had gradually lit a red light? Whether these disaster contradiction no solution, or inevitable development consideration? It cannot just accept the description of the media even read the book, will enable us to understand the crux of the issue.
Solve the blueprint for human along the way, why will become like that right now? So far till today, our life has been far beyond the imagination of our ancestors, but we still feel inadequate or afraid develop slowly will be eliminated, so the progress continues, but with the progress from the air pollution, water pollution, garbage pollution, nuclear waste, over-exploitation.... problem is getting worse at the same time, also makes human beings to realize that the Earth is a step towards a path of destruction along the way. The book talked about the story / myth, it also explains the evolution of the world, and the gods performed tenor in the world and the fate of mankind, so that human civilization development in this direction, but the story of our civilization is not the only answer until the story comes true. Moreover, uncut correct, but human beings can allow trial and error? Author is clearly trying to reinterpret the history of the people and the planet through the book, hoping to change the human mind: for the interpretation of the development process of the universe is just a myth, humans created the emergence of three million years ago is not a species the highest peak, an overview on Earth various biological development trend, the world's various organisms have a tendency to consciously and wisdom trends, the world is a very good rule of law, it is not a mess, it does not need human conquest or domination, so the world does not need a human being, but it does the need for human beings belong to it. Maybe we caught the mother of civilization hypnosis burying its head in the sand does not know by what is implied and therefore we also do not have consciousness. The book provides a wonderful on analysis, whether people agree a matter of opinion or not, but I have to say, without this book, as stupid as I am afraid that life there is no opportunity to reflect on the true relationship of our human civilization.
Human knowledge accumulated in the text after the invention of printing, we jumped twice. The amount of data available from the day far more than the ancients side effects explosion of useless information, therefore we almost buried inability to distinguish human reading the key to the evolution of thinking, the problem is what should we read first? Of course not entertainment and gossip, Is not the contemporary intellectuals called “academic research”, the answer is very obvious, the reason of why human being as human being, the meaning of life and practice, positioning of the human being in the world, as well as the mission, how to rational thinking, If healthy living is the priority of quality, and necessary. This book is unraveling people to rethink the value of human existence and play the role of the society on Earth. But I suspect that even if the human understanding the gorilla to convey to us the message, change habits, thinking patterns to reduce the damage of the Earth. I have to say this is the kind of book is nothing more than to reflect on your life more important to the human civilization.

This visual was used for my title page background. In my opinion, this visual is the most effective out of all of the visuals incorporated in this project. In ”A Long Way Gone,” by Ishmael Beah, we are taken through his journey and the many places in Sierra Leone. Ishmael Beah was one of many boy soldiers. This visual is a clear representation of what was a normality in Sierra Leone.…

“Among the people of our culture, which want to destroy the world?” “Which want to destroy it? As far as I know, no one specifically wants to destroy the world.” “And yet you do destroy it, each of you. Each of you contribute daily to the destruction of the world” (Quinn, pp. 25). Through the composition of Daniel Quinn, “Ishmael,” it is illustrated how humankind has been irresponsibly exploiting the supplies that mother nature had been providing. Through his experience from being ambushed out of the jungle, kept in a zoo in the 1930’s, brought into the private care of Mr. Sokolow and kept in a menagerie, the truth of man destroying the world was revealed in-depth through a gorilla named Ishmael. Daniel Quinn’s…

The theoretical perspective I plan to use when evaluating the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn is the structural / functionalist perspective because it evaluates the subjects that are valued highly in Ishmael. The structural / functionalist perspective consists of a sociological paradigm that all aspects of social life have different levels that enable everyone within the system to find stability, order and meaning. Ishmael taught me a lot about the way society is and how Takers and Leavers relate to nature and how their knowledge of good and evil affect the future of mankind.…

When one writes a piece of literature with the ability of choosing what to write, one is unable to prevent putting their own self into it. Depending on how well the person knows he or herself, with experiences that are unique or even relatable will determine how well their piece will impact the world. One does not want to read textbooks that are all factual, unless forced too, they want to read stories within a event. The interest goes deeper than just the surface, we may not realize it, but we crave for information. We tend to want to know more than we need or should, but that curiosity drives us to places we wouldn’t expect to find ourselves. Whether the place is good or bad, we are to deal with it the best we can. John Steinbeck capitalizes…

I can personally connect with Ishmael’s astonishment in this quote because when I first arrived in America at the age of four on a plane, one look out the window allowed me to experience what a true wonderland look like. Ishmael’s description of the city was exactly what I saw, except I was too young to distinguish the fact that the lights actually derive from buildings. My childish mind actually thought that I arrived at a magical place, which was too good to be true. At that moment, I forgot all the negative things my grandparents taught me about America and just stared out the window with amazement at the colorful lights scattered around me. Even now, I still vividly remember how beautiful New York appeared (only at night of course) in my…

“Picturing a sustainable Society” of Lester R. Brown is talked about the problem of our today world and give some possible ways to change in the future which is called “new version of the future”. So he proves how present societies are not sustainable with the definition of sustainable society and some fact information of today world in an example about the fossil fuel and climate change. In addition, he also gives the efforts to understand sustainable leads to problems and from those problems, he gives an overall global plan. On the other hand, he also gives us a lot of information and example about the damage of environment and economic problem like the world have to be sustainable in within the next 40 years, what makes the global warming and reduces it by using some kind of new technologies, and how to using the fossil fuel in a suitable way and reduce global carbon production which changes the climate. To reduce to use the fossil fuel, using other kind of energy is better like solar and nuclear energy, but nuclear energy also has some disadvantages like use it to make the nuclear weapons and it is dangerous for human-being. The world is not sustainable not only in the environment problem but also in society, high birth rate and the explosive makes some big trouble for a sustainable society and having some ways to decrease the population like low birth rate like what China and Thailand did and try to have only 8 billion in 2030. Sustainability society is also depends on our responsibility because each person around the world makes the big society. If we always keep this value and don’t change it for our other generation, our efforts cannot be able to success, but want to change everything to make a sustainable society is not easy, but everyone tries and expects a better future. In summary, this describes some ways to build a society last longer and…
