William’s father lived an incredible life and when he grew up, he told William all the stories of his life. This represents the beginning of the book because it consists of William’s father’s stories and adventures.

This describes William as a boy, troublesome and imaginative.

Towards the middle of the book, William’s uncle dies from tuberculosis. This quote helps depict the emotional toll it had on William.
