Most Honorable Delegates,
I recommend that you tell the state leaders that these three weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation must be addressed. They require a new plan for government. The three greatest weaknesses in the Articles of Confederation are the following:
-The central government under the Articles was too weak since the majority of the power rested with the states.
-For any major laws to pass they had to be approved by 9 or the 13 states which proved difficult to do so that even the normal business of running a government was difficult.
-Paper money is what brought down the Confederation. Congress printed money to the point of completely destroying the currency. From this act came the phrase "not worth a continental".
Tell them the first one is a problem because, The states dont all have the same beliefs, and because of that they want different things. So they shouldnt be given so much power. The second one is a great problem because, like child labor for an example thats how most companies that allow child labor get their money thats why they dont want it to be ratified because they wouldnt have any money. Other states who are against child labor want it to end but, not enough states against it to get it ratified.
