Breastfeeding a baby in public continues to be a very controversial issue. Some people call breastfeeding in public impolite or offensive exposure, while others argue that this it is a mother's right to feed her baby. Wherever you might stand on the issue, there are some points that you might want to keep in mind before you judge someone.
Are people really offended by a breastfeeding mother? And what exactly is offensive about it?
-The breast? The baby? The breast with the baby? Are men more offended by breastfeeding than women?
Honestly now, if breasts
were the issue then all the men’s magazines that show basically naked women in them would have to be pulled from the newsagents’ shelves and topless bathing be banned from beaches.
If it’s the issue of the baby on the breast, then people need to find other things to focus their attention on.
There are days when a lot of people want to walk up to people and tell them that their haircut is offensive and it is making me uncomfortable. But they don’t. Why? Because it’s a ridiculous thing to get offended over and quite frankly, other people’s haircuts have nothing to with them. It’s not about them. Much like when a mother breastfeeds her baby, it’s not about the people that get offended and has nothing to with the people who get offended.
