Brief History of Steve Jobs Most recognized for his work as CEO at one of the most successful technology companies to ever exist, Steve Jobs was born on February 24th, 1955. His parents put him up for adoption right away, and he was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs who lived in California. His adopted father Paul worked as a laser machine technician, while his adopted mother Clara worked as an accountant. His first journey into the word of electronics was when he was a teenager. Jobs contacted the president of Hewlett Packard regarding some spare parts for an electronics project, and he was quickly offered a summer job at the company.( Jobs, Steve - Overview 1) After high school Jobs shortly attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon. His parent were insistent in sending jobs to college because it was a promise they made his birth mother.(Goodell 5) Steve himself wasn't extremely enthusiastic in the idea of college. He was quoted as saying; After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK(Goodell 5). After shorter than two years at Reed College, Jobs went to work as a video game designer at Atari. Shortly after working here and saving some money, Jobs went on a spiritual journey to India for a short while. Travelling across the Indian continent Jobs tried to lose himself from the Eastern way of life. This trip was cut short because of a short battle with dysentery, and upon arriving back into his home country Jobs moved back to California and into a commune. (Steve Jobs 1) He soon joined Steve Wozniak, in 1975, in starting a small organization called the Homebrew Computer Club, and soon convinced Wozniak to risk it all and start small company with him.
