Principle Illustrated: Numbers do not limit God, “For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.”
Jonathan was a man of great faith. He knew that with God’s power he could defeat the Philistines. With his armourbearer, Jonathan went to the Philistines’ garrison. He told his armourbearer if the Philistines told them to come unto them then the Lord would deliver them into their hands. The men of the garrison told Jonathan and his armourbearer to come unto them. They went unto the Philistines and slew them. Jonathan and his armourbearer knew they were outnumbered, but that did not stop them. They knew that God would deliver the Philistines into their hands. They showed incredible faith in God. At times it can appear as if the world far outweighs the Christians. It is easy to get discouraged and think that evil will win. However, this story reminds me that God does not need an army to win. David has just been delivered from all of his enemies. Afterwards, He writes a song to the Lord praising Him and thanking Him for delivering him out of the hands of his enemies. Sometimes it is easy to forget that God is the one that has taken care of me. This passage reminds me that I need to thank Him and give Him the praise that He deserves. David was a valiant man. However, He knew that His strength came from the Lord. Especially as a college student I need to remember that God is the only reason I am making it through college. My life is crazy busy right now, and I know that the only reason I am able to do it all is through the Lord’s help. I cannot do this on my own. When He somehow gets me through these crazy weeks, I need to remember to give Him the praise and honor that He deserves. He deserves the praise, and I need to give it to
