The victim of crime is complaining about Brock Allen Turner who she believes that he assault her. She was at a party with her friends, and she decides to drink some alcohol. According to the witness, she was found being raped by Brock Allen Turner in the dumpster side. Brock ran, and she was helped and taken to the hospital. Brock is not his boyfriend, and the victim said that she did not have any agreement with him. She did not remember talking with him in the party room. So how did the two guys met? There must be a way or a point of agreement that they made. Even though Brock said that he had talked to her, we can find that he has something concealed. It is because he ran away after he was caught in the act. If he had a formal agreement with her, he could not run but instead he could have defended himself before the two riders. Another issue that arises is that why Brock chose dumpster side for the act rather than his room or even any other place which was convenient. The victim believed that even if she had agreed to have sex with him, she could not have allowed him to do it in dumpster side. This case was not well investigated, and the court did not have enough time to listen to her. We find that Brock was given six months jailed though she was found guilty. Fourteen years was enough jail for him, but it was surprising when Judge favor him basing on his career and

Yes, a victim can sue his/or her offender, after the rape has occurred the victim can proceed civilly, even if there were no criminal charges filed. Brody, et al., (2008) it is helpful if criminal charges were filed because convictions for criminal cases make it much easier to predetermine liability in civil cases. In other words, if there is a guilty verdict, then there is no need to litigate liability for a civil case because the civil burden of proof is lower than the criminal burden. Brody, et al., (2008)…

Shari Davies was once a carefree, optimistic young woman. This all changed one night twenty years ago, giving way to an unexpected course of injury, pain, fear, and anger. On November 5, 1986, Shari was abducted, raped, and almost killed (Davies, 1997, pp. 3-4). Rape is a very horrible crime that affects its victims both physically and psychologically, and these affects can last for years (Cooper, 2004). Shari even admits in the book that she still experiences grief, pain and confusion and shares that elements of these emotions will never leave her and her family (Davies, 1997, p 3). How family, friends, and authorities react to a victim has a major impact on how she will deal with the pain and heal. Rape victims who feel ignored or treated negatively may encounter what is known as secondary victimization. When police and other legal and medical providers put the needs of their agencies in front of the needs and psychological boundaries of the victim, victims often feel violated. The disregard of victims' needs by providers can so closely mimic victims' experiences at the hands of their assailants that secondary victimization is sometimes referred to as "the second rape" or the "second assault" (Schultz, 1999). Two sources of frustration and pain to Shari and her family were the police and the media. In this paper I will share how I interpreted Shari to be treated by these entities during her recovery process and the possible implications of such treatment. I will also delve into the issue of the scarcity of resources that Shari and her family encountered and how this has changed both in Australia and the United States.…

February 26, 2012 marked the day that the innocent minor, Trayvon Martin, was shot to his death in a gated neighborhood in Sanford, Florida. The shooter, George Zimmerman, still has not faced any serious consequence for the murder. Many people in the Sanford community, and even around the country, believe that there is no question that Zimmerman should be convicted and sent to jail, but, unfortunately, it is not up to the people; it is up to the justice system. With the consideration of Florida’s state laws, this is a difficult case to foresee the outcome of George Zimmerman’s conviction and prosecution.…

Victimology in its most simple form is the study of the victim or victims of a particular offender (Roberson. & Wallace, 2011). I feel that the Victims’ Movement has not yet reached its full potential because just like every form of law, legislature or even government there is always ways to improve and to become stronger. Much like when we started to form our government it had so many flaws and it still today has the ability to improve. The problem is that as society changes and crime changes the laws and the system have to change with it in order for things to improve. When it comes to crimes it isn’t just the victim that is affected, everyone involved is affected including the offender and the society.…
