Admiral François Paul Brueys d'Aigailliers was a volunteer of the French navy. He volunteered to join the French navy at a young age (Jensen 1). “He was named commander of the navy in the Mediterranean” (Jensen 1). Admiral Brueys was the commander of the naval operations in the expedition to Egypt (Jensen 1). In the Mediterranean, he successfully avoided being discovered by the British commander.
