GVK has deeply focussed on environmental sustainability by developing in house expertise in ‘Clean Development Mechanism’ (CDM) projects.
GVK has been ranked second across all industries in India for Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index.
GVK BIA (Bangalore International Airport) won the ‘Most Innovative Environmental Best Practice award’.
It can be observed that GVK has been leaders in initiating Carbon Footprint mapping process for its various projects. It also ensures that its projects are eligible for carbon credits.
GVK’s BIA is one of the first Indian Airports to save energy by using Bio Fuels for ground Vehicles.
Thus On a scale of 1- 10 , Since GVK has not taken initiatives for environmental sustainability, it has also been acknowledged for the same, it can be given a rating of 9 points. One point being deducted since nothing has been mentioned about the waste disposal mechanism. 2.
