Topic: Characteristic and Preservation of Busan’s culture
I live in the second biggest and the greatest city in Korea: Busan, the city of beautiful beaches, enthusiastic baseball, delicious food, and unique dialect! Located in the southern end of Korean peninsula, Busan has developed its own unique characteristic over time, which makes it the most attractive city now. I would like to introduce Busan’s history and heritage. Busan has been inhabited by various people since the prehistoric time. It has been hypothesized that Busan was populated during Neolithic era, suggested by various artifacts. Busan was under the influence of powerful kingdom Gaya, later included to Silla dynasty as it took over Gaya. Hot water spring of Busan was so well known since the time that kings and royalties visited the city to enjoy it. Busan has persisted during Koryo and Chosun dynasty as Dongnae provision. As it is the maritime city, it has enjoyed various interactions with other countries, both positive and negative. Its center of interaction was Japan; Busan occasionally traded with Japan, but in other times, suffered the invasion of Japanese. Korean War was when Busan emerged as the second city of Korea. During the war, North Koreans took over the entire peninsula, and only Busan has remained under United Nations Force. However, sanctioning Busan as temporary capital, UN and South Korea sought counterattack. In the Battle of Busan Perimeter, UN Force took back several cities, and with Battle of Incheon as a turning point, UN Force began to rise. In Battle of Incheon, General MacArthur landed in Incheon when UN Force began to emerge from Busan Perimeter. This served as the turning point of war, raising the spirit of UN Army. During Korean War, Busan was the most important city, serving as a military base and setting the stage for counterattack. Since then, Busan has been the second biggest city in the country. Thinking of
