The R&S Electronic Service Company is a company who employs 75 employees. Jane has been hired as the head of the Payroll Department at R&S Electronic Service Company. Jane was hired by Eddie, the General Manager of the company, who informed her of the need for maintaining strict confidentiality regarding employee salaries and pay scales. He also informed her that he fired the previous payroll department head for breaking that confidentiality by discussing employees’ salaries. Jane was introduced to Brad, the owner, who told her to see him if she has any questions or problems. They both made her feel welcomed to the company (Helms, 1992).
In this case study, there are many stakeholders within R&S Electronic Service Company being unfairly treated. As an interested stakeholder, Jane is working for R&S Electronic Service Company as head of payroll. Because this is her first job since college, she is concerned about losing her job security. Brad is the owner of R&S who wants his employees to be happy while being able to develop a successful and profitable company. Eddie is the general manager and has the authority to hire and fire Jane. Greg is Eddie’s brother working as a service technician who is receiving higher commissions for his work. The problem here is Greg is receiving special treatment because Eddie is his brother. Greg is getting the easier work paying him higher commissions (Helms, 1992).
Some other stakeholders most everyone loses sight of would include Jane’s family members, so the importance of keeping her job is really important to her because family is an important asset that should not be taken for granted. It is important for her to be able to support her family, so the decision she has to make should be simple. It may be unethical towards the other employees, but since the employees know nothing about what is going on it would be wise to not say a word about it to anyone. Most of the time our conscience steps
