Which of your company's practices can you defend in good conscience?
The company can defend moving much of it's manufacturing plants overseas. For the company this cuts labor costs and provides jobs to those who are in desperate need in other countries. The wages provided to employees is in compliance with the local laws. The employees are satisfied with their wages and the hours they work. There is a large demand for this type of work and the company is giving employment to many.
Which practices are in need of modification?
Firstly, the working conditions in the factories need to be improved. The standards for working conditions should be the same as in the United States no matter what the law is in that country. Employees have the right to work in a healthy environment and access to clean drinking water and cooler working conditions. The workers also need to be made aware of the company's code of conduct so that safety is a priority. Children under the age of 14 do not need to be employed. It is understandable that children be employed as sometimes families need the additional income. However, education should be encouraged and the company could provide classes while giving the children the same pay just working fewer hours. The wages also need modification. Although wages meet the standards of local law, employees should be provided with enough wage to meet basic needs for living. The wages should allow the employees to have adequate shelter, clothing, and food for their families.
If no changes are made to working conditions, will you continue to do business with this particular factory?
I would not continue to do business with a factory who does not improve working conditions. If changes that need to be made have been made clear and no progress has occurred, I would not continue to do business because safe and healthy working conditions are a basic human right. No

    The Chinese department store’s order would require significant communication with the UK based research and development centre which would take time to develop new ideas for products and cost money as well.     I feel that the Bearington plant’s source of problems and concerns are emerging from a deteriorating equipment, poor management system, and staff that aren’t properly fit for this type of job. In chapter one, as Alex Rogo starts walking through the plant he observes the plant’s equipment was making inexplicable noises. There were outdated lights, computer systems, and an intercom system that could barely be heard over all the sound of the machines. On the other hand, the author was describing the employees as raggedy looking and some were over weight. The master machinist that was in charge of the NCX-10 wasn’t focused on his job and caused the machine to break, thus putting the plant further behind on the order of 41427. Mr. Peach, the Division Vice President is also a key source to the problem at Bearington. Employees at this plant should respect his authority, but they don’t due to his self-centered and stand-off attitude. Peach has also cut many employees from the company and still expects the plant to perform the same if not improve. Technology at the Bearington plant might be somewhat outdated, but management seems to be driving the plant further behind in there orders.…

    There were unhealthy conditions and air pollution from all the factories. Also, there were unfair and unsafe conditions in factories, which resulted in people having medical problems. For example, in document 1, someone is interviewing a worker from a factory. The worker exclaims that he began working at the age of 10; he worked from five in the morning to nine at night and had one period of 40 minutes in the 16 hours at noon for a meal. Also, he wasn’t educated and could only read, but not write. More examples of bad factory conditions are in document 2, where another factory worker was interviewed about their experience in the factories.     A sweat shop is a work place, often a factory in which employees work long hours at low wages under poor conditions. It is defined by the US department of labour that violates two or more labour loss. Sweatshop is a light-hearted game based upon very present realities that many workers around the world contend with each other. In developing countries, an estimated 250 million children ages 5-14 are forced to work. Products that commonly come from sweatshops are shoes, clothing, rugs, coffee, chocolate, toys, and bananas. Sweatshops do not alleviate poverty. Men and women alike are subjected to verbal, physical, and sexual abuse in factories from their managers and supervisors. They are sometimes trapped in the factory and forced to work overnight or across multiple shifts. In 2000, more than 11000 sweatshops in the US violated the minimum wage and overtime laws, while over 16000 had broken health and safety laws.
