Business Practices We Can Learn From Google’s abc.xyz “Alphabet Inc. will replace Google Inc.” – Larry Page, Co-founder and CEO of Google Inc. (Alphabet Inc.)
Perhaps, you already have heard about Google’s restructuring plan. The whole online and technology industry has been surprised by what Google announced last August 10, 2015.
Confused and lost. That’s the whole business industry felt about the Google’s announcement. What’s the hell is happening? Is this a corporate tactic? Is it April Fool’s Day already? These are common questions that lots of people ask following the announcement. However, if we think about it, this enormous change is just a way of saying the Google is not just Google anymore.

In Page’s letter, he specifically mentioned the ultimate goal of the company is to improve the lives of many people. Aside from Google, there are other services and products under the new Alphabet including Calico, Fiber, Google X, Life Sciences, Google Ventures and Capital and Nest. These services and products aim for the betterment of the lives of many.

But how come they need restructuring? If we think through it, Google is being proactive. The technology industry is a race and as the competition gets tougher, companies, even gigantic company like Google, have to think ahead to control situations.
Google is no longer just a search company. It is now getting involved in even more complicated businesses and as they venture on different industries, they will also be a target of big company bullies and they will be faced with lots of challenges. As a panacea to future problems, Google decided to build Alphabet as a parent company. This way, it is easier to delegate tasks, develop innovations and address problems.
