Paper 9707/01 Short Answer/Essay

General comments Overall, the majority of candidates were able to attempt all required elements of this Paper, illustrating that the Paper was accessible. In many cases the candidates demonstrated a balanced performance across Section A and Section B, although there was evidence of an inconsistent performance between the Short Answer section and the Essay, with the higher marks tending to be gained in Section A. Candidates from some Centres showed extremely good technique in the structure of their essays with arguments being presented in a clear and logical manner. The quality of the essays in some cases was outstanding,
