Butterfly Bush
Butterflies and what they do for the environment
Pollination
o Like many other winged insects, what butterflies do for the environment that is perhaps most important is pollinating plants. The diet of adult butterflies consists mostly of nectar from flowers. While gathering nectar, the butterflies pick up pollen on their feet and wings and transfer it to neighboring flowers and plants, continuing the life cycle of many plants that other animals depend on for survival.
Eating Aphids & Rotten Fruit o As caterpillars, some butterflies eat aphids in addition to leaves, removing the destructive aphids and helping to control their population. Some adult butterflies eat rotten fruit, helping to break it down and assisting in the composting process.
Food Source o At the end of their short life, butterflies help the environment simply by providing nourishment to other creatures. Butterflies are in important food source for many animals that play an important part in the food chain and in the environment. Bats, snakes and birds all eat butterflies. So do lizards, frogs and some monkeys
How Hummingbirds help the environment
They pollinate flowers and that helps the flowers spread their seed everywhere, which causes more flowers to grow Birds birds are part of the food chain - they eat and are eaten in return.. some spread seeds and others fertilize plants.. some control insects, others control the rodent population..some eat dead animals...

The plants used in this experiment are called Wisconsin fast plants, due to their extremely short life cycle. In just 40 days, the plants germinate, grow, flower, and die, which makes them convenient to study in classroom experiments. They are members of the crucifer family and are related to other plants like broccoli and cabbage. In this experiment, 8 fast plant seeds were planted in a self-constructed bottle-growing system, and they were left to grow for 7-14 days. The Net Primary Productivity, or the amount of energy captured and stored by the fast plants, was calculated along with the flow of energy from the plants to cabbage white butterflies. These organisms are members of the Pieris Rapae family, and they feed on fast plants. The goal of this experiment is to observe the flow of energy in an ecosystem as it is transferred from the producers (Wisconsin fast plants), to primary consumers (butterfly larvae). This energy was kept track of by making sure all energy gained and lost by each organism was measured.…

Butterflies do not start out as the colorful flying creatures they start as weak and limited caterpillars growing themselves. Then they begin their process as a chrysalis confined in a cocoon and undergo a transformation known as metamorphosis. The Mirabal sisters are like this too. Under Trujillo oppressive regime, most people, including the Mirabal sisters, felt confined. “I mean in my head after I got to Inmaculada and met Sinita and saw what happened to Lina and realized that I’d just left a small cage to go into a bigger one, the size of a whole country.”(Alvarez 13). Upon realizing the truth about this dictator, Minerva and her other sisters begin to fight the order of things and are transformed. Indeed, Minerva's alias becomes the "butterfly" and we see this enclosed woman break free from the shackles of "El…

    3. Plants need the insects to carry the pollen to seeds. Since the neighbor sprayed insecticide because the Japanese beetles attacked their rose garden, there are no insects there to carry the pollen. Fruits won’t form unless the flowers are pollinated. Insects are considered pollinators for plants, without them the pollen would not go around. Pollination is needed to produce new seeds and create a wide variety of plants.…
