Stanley changed his weight and size towards the end of the novel, when the author writes, “He’d lost a lot of weight”(Sachar 147).This showed the reader that Stanley was overweight at first, then lost weight. Stealing the truck was something that Stanley did that one time and said he'd never do it again. Not everyone really liked Stanley, but the author tried to catch the warden lying to the lawyer.
