Brooklyn Castle College Essay

Have you ever really loved a sport, game, or activity so much that you would do anything to succeed? Well this amazing chess team from I.S. 318 did the impossible and won nationals. While having to face many challenges along the way. A school from Brooklyn, NY has a great chess team, but is experiencing money loss. Which can put the team in danger. Many of these student don’t have a lot in there personal lives, so chess can give them many new opportunities in having a better life.

To start off, during the film, “Brooklyn Castle”, all the members of the team had to do their part on their team to win. As an example in the film Pobo said to Patrick, “You are a part of this team, so you have to do your best.” Which shows how hard the team works, and how the teammates want everyone to win. Another example that shows how all the members of the team had to do their part on their team to win is when Pobo lost one of the tournaments, and everyone was there to support him. Even though they knew that they had a lower chance of winning as a
One example of how Pobo is a very important character in the film is, How Pobo is very hard-working, and is always caring for others but he also is very hard on himself. In the film Pobo says, “I thought it would be easy to win” which shows how much he wants to win. Another very important character is Rochelle she is an amazing chess player, her goal was to become the first African-American girl to win championships. That is when she did, she was to highest raking girl to win.

As you can see, a small chess team from I.S. 318 did whatever it took to win nationals. While having to face many challenges along the way. All of the chess players are very important, but they have to do a lot to succeed, just like the way Rochelle and Pobo did. They put their best foot for forward to win and to help everyone
