Before settling in the city, my family was one of those rural families struggling to make a better life. I witnessed how my uncles were forced to become migrant workers. My cousins, therefore, became left-behind children. Unconsciously, my career vision stems from those memories. Now that I grew-up from a rustic kid to a well-educated girl, I intend to exhaust myself on creating values for rural families through my business specialty.

Holding this determination, I studied to the top in my major and got a 3.76 junior GPA. Also, I demonstrated great enthusiasm in leadership experiences. “Rekindle”, the organization I cofounded and lead, now has 65 members and reached over 10,000 books sales volume. We donated all our profits to the charities.

After 3-year professional study, I found the access point of my career path. Small to medium-sized rural business growth is an irresistible trend in China and it increased farmers’ income by establishing the relationship between farmers and outside markets. Actually, after the crisis in 2008, 850,000 Chinese migrant workers chose to return to their hometown and set-up village or township enterprises. But, deficiencies in entrepreneurial knowledge and financial services made those businesses vulnerable and professional helps are required. Thus, setting-up a world-class, China-based cooperation providing sustainable financial services for them has become my career objective. My cooperation will dedicate to create a reproducible pattern that empowers rural families to create values and transform themselves. Post-graduate accounting study is vital to making this a reality. And I believe MPA’s program in UC-davis is a great guide.

I believe that with the top-notch

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

In considering which path to take in graduate school, I immediately had a flashback to when I would travel with my mother and care for my younger siblings while she worked as a counselor to provide assistance with psychosocial support and mental health care to communities, families and individuals in conflict and post-conflict situations. Having the opportunity to observe her and the organization change so many people’s lives while providing them with hope, planted the seed of nurturing and counseling in my heart. Since middle school I have devoted my time to taking on every opportunity that comes my way to volunteer with helping my community better the lives of our youths.…

From the time I was little I’ve never let the fact that I’m a female deter me from taking up interest in science and math studies. Now that I’ve had the chance to take advantage of Frederick High School’s STEM classes, I have matured and refined my scientific interests. I am currently obtaining a degree in Physics at Aims Community College as well as volunteering at the Little Thompson Observatory to further my knowledge of space and all of its intricacies. More recently, I began to explore engineering and have taken a special interest chemical, biological, and other specialized engineering fields. My counselor introduced me to the FSI program and I knew without hesitation that this summer program was meant for me. With a multitude of programs to choose from and the chance to further my scientific understanding of the world instead of lounging on the sofa for six weeks, the Frontiers of Science Institute is offering an opportunity I simply cannot pass up.…

Throughout my life I have gone through very unfair things. There is always something between me and achieveing my goals, although those things aren't there to make life hard, but to make me fight for what I want. Before I used to say I didn't want to go to college and even if I did I wouldn't make it. Now I have a whole new different perspective and I really want to go to college to have both a good future and life. The reason there should be a spot for me in college are so many. I want to be the first one to graduate from college in my family. I want to be someone my little cousins would admire, a rolemodel. I would show them that even through the inequalities, the lack of money, and unfairness, I made it to college. Also I have my want of making something out of my life, no one wants to be a nobody. If you have the faith and belief in yourself, perseverance and effort, anything can be accomplished. If I make it to college I can help out and encourage my family to do the same. I want to go to college and graduate to become a Pediatrician which is what i've wanted to do all my life. I enjoy being with kids and I'd love to help them out. I could do all of this and more but going to college is a MUST. With a college education I'll achieve anything I set my mind, soul, and heart to do. I would try my best at everything, and stand on my own 2 feet, for my family, and especially for myself. If I get to receive a college education I would feel as if i'm on top of the world. The main mission of Berkeley City College is “to promote student success, to provide their diverse community with educational opportunities and to transform lives” – this is what exactly required Edmundson during the process of teaching his students (Edmundson, 1997). As he puts it in his work that he did not wanted to hear that student enjoyed his class and discipline, but he needed to know that his classes challenged the students and changed their lives. He also points out that students needed some jokes or interesting facts at the beginning of the lecture or an interesting question in order to provide investigation but he wanted that students rather make a difficult way through studying and required his students pay a lot of attention and…

I asked myself, “what can I do to make an impact on my community?”. That is when I founded my high school’s Red Cross Club. We aimed to push the vision-mission, “to alleviate human suffering through volunteering and donations” to the student body to make a change in our community. I initially started with only three other members, however, we bolstered our ranks by over 20+ members in two weeks. Balancing 7 AP and PreAP classes, such as Biology and US History, proved to be a challenge for management of the club. Keeping up with extracurriculars was not always easy however, I always made time to supervise my club. Being a leader at times was very frustrating, but overall it was a very positive experience. While I did slave for the club, it never felt like work to me because I felt very passionate helping others. The Red Cross Club became my medium for making a positive impression on my environment. Through the cooperation of my school’s class officers and my own members, we did donations like can drives around Thanksgiving to help soften the burden of low income families in inner Houston. In addition, with collaboration with Student Council, we fundraised and donated to sponsor underprivileged children during Christmas. Being a part of this club has made a positive impact on my life to be great. My experiences at the club made me develop a strong work ethic, and useful leadership experience to be used in…

The world I come from is a lot of things. A couple of words come to mind when I think of it, such as vast, diverse, ever changing, and complex. Out of the whole list of words that describe my world, two stick out more than the others: caring and supportive. It seems that every person in my life wants to be successful, and they will do everything in their power to make it so. From the time that I was in kindergarten, my dad put me into numerous organized sports to teach me leadership, teamwork, work ethic, but most importantly to enjoy what I'm doing. I played all the major sports, hockey, basketball, baseball, soccer, and football, and the assortment of those sports taught me to be versatile and how to face diversity. With all that said I guess you could say that in a way my world has revolved around sports, but in spite of that I don't consider myself a "jock." Along with all the physical work I was also taught to appreciate academics, and throughout most of my life I have stayed true to that aspect. My teachers were definitely a big influence in my life, because they shared the love they showed for education with me and taught me to love it as well. I love to learn, as quirky as that sounds. My goal is to reach a higher plane of thought. I want to know EVERYTHING. Everything might be a tad overextension of my goals, but I really do want to be what I consider a modern renaissance man. I want to understand math, and science, and philosophy, and art, and literature. I want to compose music and write books about physics, and then go home and paint canvases. It may seem a little overwhelming but that is my dream. My world shaped my dream by not interfering with it. I am able to do what I want today because of the support it has given me to follow any path that I choose. My teachers opened my mind to all the different fields that I love today, and thus made me face an extremely difficult decision: which major do I choose? I asked my teachers, my councilor,…
