Things to Do
Camperdown is close to the city, making it a desirable suburb, but it offers unique things to do outside the city like the following.
• Victoria Park is a picturesque public park spanning nine hectares. The University of Sydney borders the park, making it a hot spot for students to relax, read, gather, picnic, swim, play sports, or engage in other activities Victoria Park provides. Inside the park, you’ll find the Gardener’s Lodge is the café, a new playground with equipment for kids of all ages, and specific times for off-leash time with your pet. You will even see tightrope walkers in the park sometimes.
• The Nicholson Museum features the biggest collection of antiquities across the Southern Hemisphere. The Museum was founded in 1860 by Sir Charles Nicholson who got started by donating his own private antiques and collections. Donations, excavations, and bequests make up the vast collections found at the Nicholson Museum. This venue is a free thing you can do while in Camperdown.
• The Macleay Museum features a billion-year-old meteorite within its walls. No matter your age, this museum has an extensive collection of natural
history.
• The Ledge Climbing Centre is an activity you can enjoy at a low cost. This climbing centre provides new climbs every few weeks, so it pays to go back often and enjoy the experience. It’s a good way to get some exercise and get out of the house.
