1. Introduction
Leading change is one of the most important and difficult leadership responsibilities. For some theorists, it is the essence of leadership and everything else is secondary (YukI, 2010). However, it is hard to scrutinize every leader in the world whether they have capability to manage the change. It can be suggested that one can manage the change successfully must be treated as leader to say the least. This essay will take China economic transformation as examples to explain the leadership and change theory.
2. Resistance to the change
When Deng Xiaoping implemented the economic transformation, the major resistance came from Chen Yun and Li Xiannian, both of whom were members of Standing Committee. Firstly, they believed that the change was so quick and it was not feasible in China. Secondly, they both are absolute loyalty communists, and they really hate evil imperialism and capitalism. The economic transformation, however, pose a huge threat to their Holy Communism believes. Believes and values hold by them were challenged by transformation.
