In today’s society the employees need to feel appreciated as well as motivated to do his or her everyday job successfully. To run a successful business or police department, the workers must feel as if he or she is satisfied with the results of his or her hard work as well as appreciated for everything he or she has done. If the workers and the officers do not get the praise needed and the proper treatment at work he or she would not want to come to work or would feel as if he or she does not have to do much for the organization because nothing is giving back in return. Philosophical Approach
The philosophical approach that Captain Strong should take to carry out the project would be to find what is causing the problem with the workers and change those problems to accommodate everyone’s needs. According to almost all of the patrol officers “their workload is excessive and complains that all they do is go from one incident to the next and spend an inordinate amount of time creating police reports” (More, Vito, & Walsh, 2012). To decrease the patrol officer’s workload Captain Strong can approve of overtime for the officers to get his r work done. Also, some off-duty police officers can come in during the day or night and work together with the patrol officers to get the paperwork’s taken carried off. By doing this Captain Strong is easing up on the workload of the patrol officers as well as encouraging the patrol officers meet new people officers and develop new friendship help raise morale’s. It was also stated that patrol officers “response time is long” (More, Vito, & Walsh, 2012). When a call is made to the dispatcher, the person who is calling would expect the police officer to arrive within a reasonable time frame if not earlier. However, when there is a long response time the person, the community would feel as if he or she is not being taken seriously and would take matter into his or her or hands.
