Game 1: Capture the Flag
Venue: Sheltered Netball Court
Objective of the game: This game promotes teamwork and communication. Students will learn how to work together especially when under external pressure.
Duration of the game: 5 minutes for briefing, 20 minutes to play the game.
Number of GSMs per rotation of the game: 4
Safety Precautions:
1. Running game; may fall down especially into the drains.
a. Game is not played at areas which are very close to drains
b. OGMs will be told to brisk walk especially during the event of wet weather.
c. During wet weather, sheltered netball court will be wet and slippery. Ensure that the floor is relatively dry before commencing.
2. When grabbing the tags off of others’ backs, may pull the shirt as well
a. Can try taping on the shirt sleeve instead
3. OGMs may scratch one another during their attempt to pull of the tags.
a. Implement the rule of “No covering of the tag” to ensure that there would not be any scratching event.
4. Ensure that there is no pushing or pulling between the OGMs, especially when they are trying to get the tags from the other team.
a. Deduct points from the team who is responsible for a pulling/pushing event as a penalty.
Logistics:
Coloured flag strips (Cloth)- 30 white strips and 30 yellow strips
Duct Tape: 2 rolls
Masking Tape: 1 roll
Print out pictures of constellations
1 Whistle
8 Cones
Instructions:
1. Mark out a large playing area in the netball court (preferably the whole court is used to play the game but if there is a 4 group rotation which is probably the case, two groups can play in half a court)
2. Mark out a 1m x 1m square for the Constellation at the edge of each court for each team. This will then be known as the Creative Zone. (refer to the diagram below)
3. Two OGs will play against each other.
4. Each OG member would have a strip of cloth pasted to their shirt sleeves using only one piece of 10 cm duct tape. The cloth has to be pasted vertically downwards on the right sleeve. One
