When you think of the Cincinnati Bengals you probably think of all the arrests, busts, and bad managing that have taken place in the 90's. I'm telling you the Bengals are on the rise and have changed the ways of their troubled past back to the winning ways of the 80’s. The 1990's and early 2000's were compiled with poor drafts and miss judgment of character in the players they chose, but the past few years the Bengals have proven draft after draft they are stepping up their drafting game. The Bengals faced heavy criticism for filling the locker room with troubled young players. The Bengals were the centerpiece for jokes about players getting arrested and in trouble. For example Chris Henry the wide receiver that they drafted in the 3rd round, knowing that he had a troubled past that even led up to his college days at West Virginia. They unfortunately carried over to the NFL and he got into many bad situations with drug abuse and other situations. Henry did begin to finally turn his life around but sadly his life was cut short in an accident when he fell out of the bed of a moving truck. Henry was only 26. Since then the Bengals have really done a good job in the draft getting good players that have a clean background. Although the Bengals still have taken chances on players that are questionable Marvin Lewis has taken them under his wing and has mentored them and had really helped them turn their lives around, in example Adam Jones and Vontez Burfict. In doing so they spend very low round draft picks on them. Burfict is a perfect example of this. The Start of this kid’s senior season he was a lock for the first round. Burfict did not take the game seriously though. In essence he selfdestructed. Getting into trouble with the law, and in games he got called for many unnecessary roughness calls and cost his team plays and yards. By the time the draft rolled around his draft stock had…

    Nighthawks

In 1942, realist painter, Edward Hopper, painted the famous Nighthawks and it has remained one of the most recognizable pieces of art since. At first glance, the painting is simple: a nighttime scene of a diner with three customers. Two customers appear to be together, a man and a woman. The third is a man by himself; the fourth person is a man in white who is behind the counter and consequently a worker there. None of the characters are looking at one another. One can infer that because of the outdated clothes and the aesthetic of the diner, it reflects the time in which it was created. During the 1940s America was in the middle of World War II and although many were caught in feelings of despair and turmoil, many Americans continued with normalcy, and the painting shows this in its simplicity. Additionally, the perspective is from outside, at an angle from a street corner which makes it even more compelling to the viewer because it highlights the loneliness and introspection of the time in being the outsider looking in from a distant war.…

The focus of this paper will deal with the issue of women in the Catholic Church not being able to have a ministerial role in the church. The catholic doctrine belief is based on the fact Jesus Christ only chose men to be his disciples and apostles. Being that the catholic beliefs are doctrine and tradition this is the base for their reason to keep women from becoming ordain ministers as well as priest. The Roman Catholic Church and the Pope refuses to ordain women based on these facts. In Oakland, California, October 1966, persons Huey Newton and Bobby Seale established The Black Panther Party (BPP). Huey and Bobby met in the early sixties whilst at Meritt Junior College in West Oakland (Wood 1, Rajguru 2, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense). Both of these men were active in Black politics for several years before they came together to form the Panthers. (same site as previous sentence). The “Black Panther Party for Self Defense” was formed to protect Black individuals and neighborhoods from police brutality (ushistory.org). This party was based off of the Black Power Movement. The Black Power Movement was also formed in 1966 and was rooted from the ideas of Malcom X who was a very insperational person to the Black Panther Party. This movement stressed the self-sufficiency, self-assertion, and Black pride (13.3 US Packet). During the time of the 1970’s the black power movement had a great social impact on minorities because the Panthers showed that they were supporters amongst Blacks in the major cities by 90% (Wood 1, Rajguru 2, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense). During the March Against Fear in Mississippi in 1966…
