In the United States, Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) remains the greatest common cause of death. Cardiovascular Diseases, also known as the common heart diseases, are any conditions that involve blocked blood vessels that can lead to either a heart attack or other heart problems. The common types of CVD are coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and arrhythmia. CVD is a major disease that will not show any symptoms until the disease is at its extreme. Yet numerous adults are unaware of the risk factors and the precautions to prevent CVD. Young adults in particular do not realize the harm they are doing to their bodies now and are increasing their risks of getting CVD. Many young adults are too busy with school or …show more content…
According to the risk of CVD increases in age, therefore, a need for awareness of CVD in older women increases. CVD, especially coronary heart disease (CHD) remains the leading cause of death in women. CVD is also a more increased issue for minority women. Death due to CVD is 69% higher in black women than in white women. Minority women are at higher risk than most women because they do not have the money to go see a doctor. Many deny that they have risk factors and continue with their daily routines. Young adults, in particular, are at risk of CVD because of what they consume, how they consume, and the lack of exercise they endure. Children also are at high risk since their diet and exercise habits develop in their childhood years. Young adults and children though are not the only ones who should worry about CVD. Women, especially minority women, are at higher risk of CVD than men in general. Minority women may not have the sufficient funding to pay for their medical bills to deal with CVD or be able to afford the living costs to prevent CVD. Obesity is also a high risk factor for CVD. Eating unhealthy meals and lack of exercise puts a person at a higher risk for developing obesity as well as future complications of CVD. Any person needs to understand that one risk factor doesn’t mean they’re going to get CVD. Having one risk factor could put them at a higher risk to develop CVD than the next person. CVD is caused by many risk factors, not just one. However, being safe and taking precautions to prevent CVD is more beneficial than to ignore it. A need for intervention is needed to increase awareness and knowledge of CVD among men and woman. This paper is intended for young adults and women. I hope this paper helped clear some information about CVD. This is a serious disease that should everyone must be well-informed
