A data processing coordinator is part of an organization’s information technology or information systems department and is responsible for the work flow of operational and/or financial data (depending on the industry), ensuring data are accurate and readily accessible to end users. Strong attention to detail is of paramount importance as these employees often manage various tasks simultaneously. Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills are a great part of these employees' job related attributes as they deal with various departments and individuals at different levels within the organization.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most data processing coordinators work a 40-hour week, but some work more than 50 hours a week depending on the industry and the size of the organization. In addition, some data processing coordinators may be required to be “on call” outside of normal business hours in order to resolve system failures or other problems. In general, these employees work in well-lighted and comfortable office environments or computer laboratories. Due to the remote nature networks and systems platforms, data processing coordinators are sometimes able to work from home or other remote locations, thus reducing or eliminating commute time to and from work.
