According to the Oxford dictionary technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry (mass noun) and is also the machinery and devices developed from scientific knowledge (count noun). The evolvement of technology has influenced culture in many ways however; culture and technology are in a constantly expanding loop. The greatest changes in human culture are almost always the result of a technological innovation. However, a technology capable of a cultural shift can only have come from the culture itself. Without the culture's choice to refine the technology, the practical applications would have been left as only fleeting ideas; technology will only be developed if the culture has some immediate and apparent use for it. As culture will develop a technology based on its inherent valence towards a particular application. Many elements of our culture such as music, wear and the preparation of food have been vastly influenced by the technologies of today. Our national instrument in Trinidad and Tobago the steel pan was originally made from steel drums. Due to technology there has been an invention of the Gpan which covers the entire range of existing steel pan history. Disc jokies have evolved from using big discs to cassettes to CDs and to now flash drives. The way in which men and women dress has also evolved with technology. Women of Indian descent never exposed any parts of their body but in today’s world many of them aren’t wearing their hijabs. People on a whole are dressing like the celebrities they see on either the televisions or internet. Many of them are abandoning their own cultural wear for “fashion”. The preparation of food has also changed a lot with technology. Wood fires or fire crackers were originally

In A Small Place, Kincaid described the Europeans as “Human rubbish,” who took “noble and exalted human beings from Africa” to enslave them (80). She made no effort to conceal her thoughts about the little island consumed by the after effects of colonialism. Driven by anger and resentment toward Antiqua’s British implemented culture, Kincaid explored the intricacy of the after…

I am astounded. I unraveled the interview “What can cultural study do?” By Steven Connor and chronicled a solitary terrain called “Technoculture.” Technology is unceasingly cogitated to be the crux causation of economic and social change in the world. Some of technological innovation has been the catalyst for revolutionary changes in the culture of its time. As we know, the invention of the wheel in ancient civilization transformed transportation and travel, the invention of currency transformed trade and spread capital around the world, the invention of printing press transformed learning, media, communication and knowledge dissemination all over the world. Additionally, consider the far-reaching impacts of electricity, the steam engine, the telephone, airplanes, nuclear power, genetics etc. on the cultures of the world. Jacques Ellul, enquired in his writing “Is there a Technical Culture?’ and concluded that ‘a technical culture is impossible. He argued that ‘technique is universal, but culture cannot be, for human beings are not universal. We all have a place, a race, a formation and a specific time.’…
