Matron Gillan Johnson that the nurse slapped her on her right thigh four times. The patient son spoke to Patient Advised Liason Service and said that he mother claimed that the nurse slapped her 6 times. Patient also claimed that the nurse informed her that she had a bad back. The patient on the night shift was described sleeping at the start of the shift but mostly awake during the night. There is no witnessed on this patient allegation to staff nurse Wilhelmina and there were no evidence to support the investigation that this has actually happened. Furthermore, the slapped as demonstrated by patient X to Matron Gillan Johnson on her interview was viewed by Gillan Johnson as more of a pat. It wasn’t a sort of like, vicious slap. Gillan looked at the patient thigh if there was any bruising or marks and none were identified. There was nothing documented on patient medical notes. Conclusion Based on the interviews and statements provided to the Investigating Officer to establish the facts surrounding the incident of patient complained, there is no evidence to support that this incident took place and no evidence of abuse was recorded . And even if staff asked the patient to go to sleep the slapped as described could have been as just a “pat” in terms of the forced applied as demonstrated by the patient to matron Gill. Light tap would not incur bruising therefore it could have been a gentle tap encouraging patient to
