Emily, a six-year-old girl, has been facing significant emotional challenges at home and school. These problems have made her experience severe tantrums in the school and stopped to enjoy the activities that she used to engage in. Emily`s parents are very disturbed by her behavior and wish to develop a behavior modification program so that Emily can comfortably sleep in her bed without causing the sleepless night to other family members.

Mr Smith is experiencing challenges with his workers at a local manufacturing company that produces ice skates due to their high rate of absenteeism. Although Mr Smith as tried to be kind to them by giving them donuts as well as using the fear technique in explaining to them the dangers of their absenteeism, e.g., company closure and loss of jobs, their behavior has not changed. Most of them have left the company creating inadequacy in the number of staffs. He thus feels that this plant will have to close if his employees do not show up regularly.
Target behaviors:
Mr Smith is experiencing problems due to the high levels of absenteeism in his company. To address this target behavior, Mr Smith has been advised to try a behavioral modification program, such as awarding his workers if they adhere to the program (Kazdin, 1982). Positive results should be realized within two months.
