Case Study: Hey Laquicia Pruitt Rose
Hey Laquicia Pruitt Rose,
I think you made great points with this post. . I also understand why the organization would not like children to hear some of these things because they feel as if it’s the parents or parent job to educate their children about the world ahead I think that the children parents should be there or sign off their consent that they child or children should love about this. You are so right we live in a world today that if we do not educate them, they will get it off the streets. I think it is our job as health educator to be the people after their parents to educate them on the basic of life.

Best of Luck,

Huck Finn and Scout Finch were imaginative children that were trying to avoid the stereotypical lives of those around them. They loved to do typical activities such as play made up games and imagine themselves on adventures. Huck enjoyed to picture himself in a group of bandits who steal and kidnap the individuals that they hold for ransom. The idea of action and danger excited him. Scout was similar to Huck in this way.…

In 2010 PBS aired a one hour Frontline documentary about the vaccine war in the United States. This documentary pitted scientists and parents against each other, scientist’s back up their claims with scientific evidence while the parent’s arguments are solely based on opinion. The parents introduced throughout the film who were against vaccines made claims that the vaccines given to children in today’s world are the cause of many issues, like the rise in autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. These parents also feel there is no need to vaccinate because the diseases that their children are being vaccinated for are no longer an issue in the united states. While the scientists stress the importance of vaccines because they have decreased the issues of these diseases that cause so many problems when infected. A lot of these scientists are older and were children when these diseases had outbreaks and may have even gotten the disease themselves. In the films conclusion Arthur Caplan is quoted saying “Do good in the name of children. Do good in the name of public health”. This quote leaves the viewers with the decision on who to side with. I feel like the documentary was in favor of the scientists and were in support of vaccinating children.…

Preparing America's children for the 21st century is among our most important national priorities. Today's children face the promise of a new century of unparalleled opportunity in which new technologies, improvements in health, expanding economies, and other advances create the hope that their future will be the brightest of any generation in history. Yet, too many of them face obstacles that obscure that bright future, including poverty, violence, child abuse, limited educational opportunity, and unhealthy behaviors. The devastating economic, social, and human costs of these obstacles are indisputable. Addressing these challenges to their future and investing in opportunities so that all children can reach their full potential. An essential…

The research process involved multiple online sources and an interview with a local community health nurse (RN). I found the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and NIH (National Institute of Health) sites addressed the questions and misbeliefs of the AVM (anti-vaccine movement), and clarified standing misconceptions. However, locally I found that parents only get clarification and information from the nurse giving the vaccine. The nurse offered a CDC handout from behind the counter, but there were no informational pamphlets displayed for public consumption nor were there informational posters on the walls. Since parents should be informed, I concluded that local parents, who do not take the time to research, lack adequate printed information to educate themselves on the topic. I recommended that the Escambia Health Center increase its availability of printed information concerning the advantages of vaccinations.…

I believe that the school made a good decision when it came to protecting the unvaccinated children and their families from being exposed. Even though they were able to stay home, it bothers me that they have not been vaccinated if this has happened in the past. I know that some parents do not believe in vaccination, but I would hate for the kids to be exposed to this disease or others just by being out in the community. It was good that the author did not try to convince parents either way on vaccinating their children; in the end, it is their…

I would have also chose to use focus groups for my method of research. This seemed like the best option because it was the most time and cost efficient. Focus groups provoke new ideas, and allow groups to talk about a certain topic in more depth if needed. This is perfect for the Boston fights drugs team because they didn’t have a lot of prior data to work with. The main disadvantage of using focus groups is that people under the age of 18 might be dishonest when speaking because they may be scared of getting in trouble.…
