Nonprofit Organization Revenue
American SID’S Institute is a nonprofit organization that helps keep the fight to end what was once known as crib death. The meaning of crib death was and still is when a baby falls asleep and slips away during the night/morning/afternoon, today we call crib death Sid’s. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a much broader term to use when relating it to children who have slipped away during the baby’s resting period.

as well as to educate others in mostly poverty stricken areas on how to prevent SID’S. The purpose of the organization is not only to educate the public but to also continue to research the reason SID’S happens in the first place. It is through research that we will gain more insight as to why as well as know who may be affected overall as SID’S hits more boys than girls, there is a reason why and that is part of the ongoing research as we want to have a better understanding as to why.

Government Grants Government grants are wanted as they are needed.
Government grants may come with strings yet it also comes with getting noticed. Accepting government grants will not only help the organization to gain further ground in the research department yet it also allows for further knowledge to be spread out in more of layer of blanket. This government money is usually conditional yet it puts their name in the hat among others so not only is the grant helping it is also teaching people and that is what is most important is giving parents knowledge, as well as keeping the research going. For the most part I would like to think that the organization would want the help yet if the government grants propose conditions that are just out of the organizations reach then yes at that point they may want to look at another way to obtain the money they are seeking. Foundation Grants CJ Foundation offers grants to those who are seeking money to fight for the cause.
There are grants toward research grants as well as program services grants. Taking money for foundation grants will allow for selected services to be provided that deal with SID’S. This of course will help as most grants that are foundational will steer toward services provided or additional research. Today since SID’S.org breaks down into chapters such as states, then the foundation itself gives grants to the each chapter yet these grants are for service provided or for additional research. Keep in mind that this is not a loan, the grant is conditional and the conditions must be met. As mentioned in the prior reasons why, grants are giving by the foundation alone to the chapters, yet the grant is conditional, and must be used for additional services or research. The grant is not a loan. As the foundation does not give loans. It is up the chapter who is receiving the grant, to make sure that they are able to meet the conditions that are being proposed along with the grant money that is being given. Being to provide proof of that the chapter is able to meet the requirements then you may have a win win, yet if the chapter is unsure then I would advise against doing so. The money must be accounted for, as the money is not to be used for operating cost, dues, or publication of any books. Keep in mind that this is just the requirements of this particular foundation grant

Private Giving Private giving is a great thing and what I have found to most interesting is that the Organization has come up with a way to giving at a certain dollar amount due to the first amount that is able to be given privately may be done but in cerements of $50.00, from there it grows. Yet, private giving may not stop at just monetary gain; it may be the time from another person or persons. These persons are able to gather people in groups to come together to raise funds such as a walk-a-thon fundraiser. Yet, there are so many ways that a person doing a private gift can be done. If the private gift comes with strings then I would not think the organization would want the gift. The gift must have a purpose. I don’t see any reason why the gift that is coming from a private person should not be considered. The only time that it may not be considered would be if the funds bring a negative response from the public yet if it is true privately given gift then by all means. Money that affects the organization in a negative way will not be considered under any circumstances.
Social Enterprise Earned Revenue Social Enterprise is where are today, as it is through social engineering that we have gained more of a focus, by using certain websites to gain more attention to any organization and in this case it is something that is a positive nature as it helps to gain more money for the organization. Not only the organization getting more donations but they are also getting more attention from the many different sites that have driven the traffic into SID’S.org site, as this is the main site and from here when SID’S.org gets money from the Social Enterprise fund is something that is new and must be reviewed yet it is not something that the organization should ignore. SID’S.org is a very well known organization and which has chapters that have established themselves throughout the area and are considered to be well known throughout the medical field and since they do not want to be affiliated with certain businesses that come with social engineering
Nonprofit has changed over the years in regard to raising money as they have gone from selling chocolates to selling products online through their own online stores. In addition the ways they acquire funding has changed so much because of the internet, they can have meetings online and advertise on social websites such as face book and they are able to give out more information in on a broad spectrum. The social media has allowed for the new face to come into the picture which allows for the organization to gather money in different ways yet still be a upstanding business if ran in the right manner. The organization that I have chosen has a positioned themselves in a very positive way and they were able to gain ground by asking for private donations to be donated in certain dollar increments, yet they are not tapping into the social media as much as I would like to see them do so. I feel that they are missing an opportunity here, as they will not able be able to have more traffic driven to their site which opens the door to allow others to donate as they pass through. But even more importantly here they are missing a grand opportunity to capture the younger generation to give knowledge about SID’S. Many don’t know about SID’S or how to prevent it. This is a huge opportunity as for me I would not want to meet a first time mom at the time of child’s death. I was that mom and there was nothing ever spoken about SID’S. They need to capture the younger generation and the medical field, as they need to bring more information to Doctor’s offices, they need to have sessions where the mom to be may get the information they need on ways to prevent SID’S. This may be down just with a mailing list from a Doctor, a email list. This would cut back on the many flyers that were needed in the past. This is something that I would consider to be a huge opportunity that they are missing out. As through educating parents on SID’S is how we will get the word out as well as more donations of money and time. Starting with just one email address.
