Case Study: Purchase Reaction Between Lewis And Davis
On June 7, 2017, Defendant, Allan Lewis, was arrested for and charged with the distribution of an ounce of cocaine. On the day at issue, Lewis sold to Damian Davis, an informant, one ounce of cocaine in exchange for $3,000. Ken Kendrick, an undercover agent, procured the purchase transaction between Lewis and Davis. The Government has provided notice that it seeks to introduce evidence of a prior cocaine transaction between Lewis and Davis which occurred on June 5, 2017 and June 6, 2017. Following the instruction of undercover agent Kendrick, Davis initiated contact with Lewis in an alleged attempt to purchase cocaine on June 5, 2017. At an initial meeting at a neighborhood bar on June 5, 2017, Lewis allegedly informed Davis that he would deliver
a sample of cocaine to Davis. On June 6, 2017, Lewis allegedly delivered the previously mentioned sample of cocaine to Davis in exchange for a sum of $300. Unexplainably, Lewis was never charged for this alleged sale to Davis.
