Case Study: Should America Switch To The Metric System
Should America Switch to the Metric System? Out of all 195 countries in the world a mere 3 of them are currently using the US customary system of measurement as its official measurement system. These three remaining countries are the US, Liberia (which was founded by the US), and Myanmar(which is drifting toward converting to the metric system) meaning that if the US were to switch to the metric system it would finally be on the same base as the other 99% of the world. America should switch From the US Customary System to the Metric System because it is much more frequently used than our current system of measurement as well as that it is easier to use. For starters just about all major corporations could save greatly by not having to equip themselves with both

The Science community has jumped ship on the customary system so that scientists worldwide could more easily share research and data with each other. This pretty generalized lockin of using the metric system for all scientific studies has come due to past complications with converting from one system to the other . NASA certainly would have benefited from the
US converting back in 1927 when it was voted upon to only be only an accessory system of measurements. As it is estimated that NASA lost nearly 1 billion dollars between 1999 and the early 2000s due to the crossover between foreign scientist using the metric system for the
space programs that the American scientists were using the customary system which lead to several failed space missions. Finally the US should switch to the metric system because it is just straight up simpler.
The metric system is based off of sets of ten which makes it extremely easy to understand and to do conversions for. Whereas the customary system that we are currently using is based off of sets of 6 which get much trickier much
