Leeds is in a situation in which many people find themselves right out of school. There are so many opportunities out there that sometimes it is difficult for one to know what to do. It is especially so when a graduate is looking at growth and not just monetary opportunities. In this case, Leeds took the more glamorous job and the one he thought would offer the most in variety and career progression. He gave up an environment that he knew was conducive for him for one in which he was now regretting. ‘Would he stay at Danner or cut his losses and go look for another opportunity?

Kingston. He maintained in no uncertain terms that he had been disappointed with Leeds and that feeling might not have changed. He might offer the young lad his job back, but things might not be the same. The accelerated path to the vice-presidentship might not be there anymore. It might prove to be a burial ground for his career instead of a revival.
Going to a New Firm
There is the option of resigning from Danner and applying at an entirely different company. It would provide him with a new lease of life and new challenges. After the incident in the car, it is evident that he cannot even depend on his closest teammates. An advantage of going to a new place is that he will be in a new environment. It will be in a place he can start from scratch and build himself again. It would be just what he needs to get out of the negative state of mind in which he is.
A glaring disadvantage of this plan is the uncertainty it portends for him. After going through the training by Mr. Kingston and the working with Danner, he might seem too shifty for new employers. He might not get an offer immediately. Another one is the fact that he might be posted to a place far from Chicago. It would mean being separated from his young wife, and that could put a strain on his marriage. Finally, it could prove to be a lost opportunity to grow at a firm as large as …show more content…
Career progression sometimes means taking a risk that people would find crazy (Andersen & Vandehey, 2012). Innovators and great business leaders like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates took risks that were not understandable at that time. Leeds needs to understand that he needs a completely new environment. He is not growing at his current firm, and he has already created enough bad blood to follow him in his life at Danner. Besides, he is young and has the capacity and time to start again. There is no point in staying grounded in a toxic environment.
Another reason is that going back to Right-away is not a viable solution either. The owner has probably not forgotten what Leeds did to him. He was evidently bitter at losing such a promising talent after spending so much. Even if he welcomes Leeds back, it would not be on the same terms. Leeds does not need the negativity that would come with constantly having to prove his loyalty to Mr. Kingston. Additionally, the reasons that made him not join the firm are still there; it is small, and he would be straitjacketed.
