The purpose of this presentation is to show that I Justin Carrick-Hunter as a Second Assistant Store Manager was never considered a viable part of the Carrs-Safeway store management team located at the Northway Mall and in my opinion was setup to fail.…

Megan McArdle, the author of Walmart's Wage Experiment Works... for Workers, compares wage increases with different workforces at Walmart stores. McArdle provides the reader with ideas and questions like, "What happens if different stores did this?" and other questions relating to the effort needed to continue production if Walmart increased or the number of employees needed to fill the new workplaces. Claims like, "Paying higher wages has allowed Walmart to attract better workers, resulting in cleaner, nicer stores." Throughout the article, McArdle compares Costco's way of work with Walmart's and concludes that people living/working in rural(ish) areas generally make less money and have less workers, so "up"ing the wages would help those less…
He personally took Lisa and Giovanny to a manufacturer that makes dog food exactly like the food they sell. Marcus intention was to show Giovanny and Lisa that there is more dog foods that meet their criteria. However, Lisa said she wasn’t willing to budge on selling the product he showed her for many reasons. After a reasonable take Lisa finally gave in and agreed to sell that product. Once they got back from the manufacturer company, Marcus made them shut down their store so he would completely give it a new look. In the meantime of remodeling the store, he gives Giovanni serious help in helping his managers be successful at the other stores. He holds his first team meeting ever and was able to see what leading others should look like. Marcus takes Lisa and Giovanni to the dog park to help them get the name out there and see what kind of food people are giving their animals. Lisa quickly realized that they don’t sell products that fit to everyone’s needs and that was something that needed to change. Now the store is ready to be reopened and see all the changes. The old store was very overstocked and had too much product in the store and not enough light to see everything. There was nothing to do with animals in the store, other than the actual food, and in one store there was not even a sign out front. Marcus’s newly furnished store was filled with pictures of animals making it clear that it was a pet store, the store was very welcoming and bright with lots of open space but still enough product out. He has a warehouse now where all the inventory goes instead of each store hiding stuff in the back. He has newly trained staff and management that now know how to do their job and be successful at…

Jim Sinegal, is a son of a steelworker and he came a long way to be where he is today and has a very inspirational history. He was born on January 1, 1936 and was raised in a typical working class family. When he was younger his dream was to go to medical school and he applied for enrollment at San Diego College and after he finished his degree he enrolled in San Diego State University. To maintain himself through school years he applied for a job at Sol’s price newly expanded Fed-Mart and his tasks there were unpack mattresses as they arrived. At this job he discovered his passion for retail and within a few years he was promoted to a store manager which made him to quit school and dedicate himself full time to this position. After years of hard work he was the executive president of the chain. Fed Mart was a success but Jim was ready to move on and invest his experience in another project:…
After weighing out his options he decided to head to Minnesota and do field work. Shortly after arriving relocating to the small town of Willmar, he enrolled in college and joined the carpenter program, earning his certification in 1994. This new certification helped him provide for his family, yet again, in 2004 the economy dropped and he was jobless. His daughter who was married and lived in Pampa, Texas informed him that there was an abudance of jobs in the oilfield and the pay was great and cost of living was low. He moved to pampa and worked in the oilfield until 2015 when he was laid off once again. Getting a job at the age of 59 was almost an impossible task for Leonardo, but he didn’t give up in 2016 he was offered the opportunity to have a CDL Hazmat certification program paid for, he gladly showed me his certification of completion and his drivers license showing all of his endorsements. To see this man who had a hard life, smile over something so little would fill anyone with joy. He is currently working with a small company located in Canadian. At the age of 60 many would have given up, but this man doesn’t know the meaning of the…

One of the main ethical dilemmas that a store manager working for Wal-Mart might be faced with is a conflict of interest. He/she has been placed into a situation where there is no right or wrong answer, but rather a right, and right answer. Does he choose the role of being a good manager, and risk the managerial position? Or does he act upon the “unethical” commands of his superiors in favor of keeping his job? Three underlying elements further complicating his decision to make ethical choices are discussed in this essay. These are identified as self interest, greed, and obedience to authority, and will be discussed using Ghillyer’s three-step process of analyzing the consequences, analyzing the actions, and making a decision where the ethical dilemma can be resolved, or at least diminished (Ghillyer, 2008, p.11).…
I did not interview my manager, because I wanted a different point of view. I was surprised at how much independence she gave her team members (other nurses). She had previously worked in the specialty surgery area and was familiar with what the nurse’s face. I also liked how honest she was about some questions. For example, I was surprised she talked about whether or not the physicians wanted to work with the team or against it.…
After he sold his business at one point, he thought he would be happy because he made a ton of money on the deal, but what he didn’t realize is that he simply loves the work that he does, and that he didn’t want to stop working.…
When it comes to jobs, many people don’t have the best of luck. There are those who work in small little cubicles, having to deal with “insane” or “bipolar” boss but know that the pay is good, which provides for the family and they have a good spot staying in their department. But when it comes to that, they’re not available to spend quality time with their family because they have their head stuck on a computer. This man obviously knows that the amount of time he spends at working showing that he is great at what he does; the better he has a secure spot with the company. Compared to those that would rather quit, taking their family and money and assumes that he can gain a fortune in Vegas or…
A. Wal-Mart realized through third party studies and internal research that the Chinese customer were significantly more cost-sensitive than those in other countries and that there existed a strong, established culture of frequently shopping around to find the absolute lowest prices. Through these studies, Wal-Mart also realized that customer satisfaction level greatly influenced customer loyalty in China. The greatest determinant of this satisfaction was made up of perceived value. The perceived value is composed of three sub factors: (1) Product price, (2) Relative price and (3) Promotion. The other factors for customer satisfaction in descending order of its importance are Image, Merchandize, Shopping environment, Service, Check-out process and Store policy. Wal-Mart thrived for offering quality merchandise at the lowest price and with best customer service possible. Wal-Mart also had a reputed image as a foreign supermarket chain in China. Due to all these favorable factors customers patronized Wal-Mart China stores.…
