--Chuck is very precise before he became stranded on the island. After living most of his life in a extremely ordered world, he has troubles converting to a place where order and exactness doesn’t exist. While on the island, he tried to control as much as he possible could, even when and how he could die. However, being that precise, allowed him to realize that he could not even hang himself the way that he wanted. This caused psychological pain since he now realized that he couldn’t even kill himself the way that he wanted, showing how little control he had over his own life. After opening most of the packages that he was able to save, he discovers that he has created a face on the volleyball that was in one of the packages. By calling the volleyball “Wilson,” allows him to deal with the isolation that he is forced to face while on the island.
