In 1996, Kevin Plank; a University of Maryland ‘special team's captain’ came up with a game-changing the idea to revolutionize athletic-wear. Growing frustrated with having to change, and wash cotton tee shirts so frequently, Plank came up with the idea for the HeatGear tee shirt. Under Armour’s first product ever, developed through extensive research; the HeatGear tee shirt is made from synthetic fabrics designed to be sweat resistant, comfortable, and reusable. Kevin Plank started his journey in Georgetown, Washington DC. Working out of his grandmother’s basement. Plank traveled all over the East side of the United States distributing his HeatGear shirts out of the back of his car. In 1997, Plank accumulated $17,000 dollars in revenue and expand to a new headquarters in a warehouse in the city of Baltimore…
Canada was granted the right to self-government in 1867 but did not have full legal autonomy until the Statute of Westminister was passed on December 11, 1931. Lord Balfour, was the one that proposed all Dominions be conceded full autonomy in their legislations. It allowed these former colonies full legal freedom except in those areas where they chose to remain subordinate to Britain. This means Canada, the colony of Newfoundland, the commonwealth of Australia, the dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, and the Irish Free State all had established equality amongst Britain. I feel that the statue of Westminster Is one of the best events to happen to Canada because this granted us the freedom to pass our own laws without the consent…

Have you ever realized that its the little things in life that make us happy? But, have you ever noticed how each of us is remembered for the little things we do in life? Like holding open the door for the person behind you, smiling at someone as you pass them on the street and in this case, taking detail into consideration. We live in an increasingly image conscious world, where looks and the way we dress make as much difference as our ability, and trying to really define yourself is really hard. Hands down, the well dressed male is now a universal phenomenon. So of course it is down to that individual to decide just how he will make his outfit stand out. The most effective way that I think you can separate yourself from the crowd is by paying attention to detail – the things that we think about, but never really think about. The finishing touches that complete…
I read “Ode to My Socks” by Pablo Neruda and “Advice to My Son” by J. Peter Meinke. In the first reading “Ode to My Socks”, there is a boy who receives a gift of a pair of hand knitted wool socks from a woman named Maru Mori. He is amazed by these socks and describes them as,…
Camouflage is a method of concealing personnel or equipment from an enemy by making them to appear as a part of the natural surroundings. It means concealment by disguise or protective coloring intended to disrupt an outline by merging it with the surroundings, so that the target becomes hard to spot and the observer gets confused. Camouflage was not widely used during the 18th and 19th century, where the armies used to wear bright and bold designs to daunt enemies and for easy identification during fog of war. Camo baseball caps are caps made of fabric or garment dyed with splotches of green, brown, tan and black so that the wearer becomes indistinguishable from the natural surrounding environment.…

In the american revolution, generally, many people did not dress as we would today. They didn’t wear short skirts and tank tops, or sneakers and caps. But instead they wore long pants, to protect their legs from mosquitoes and large hats to save them from the sun. Back then, they considered this fashionable, yet healthy to wear. Soldiers would unfortunately not get the opportunity to wear this clothing, but the suppliers of it, are free to all day. In some ways, clothing in the 1700’s was similar to those of now. We still wear jeans, but usually just because it’s cold, not to prevent disease. We also wear hats, and for all the same reason. To block out the sun, and also, hats can be pretty stylish.…
Being able to properly tie your shoes is a life skill that every child should have. For an active child, an untied shoe can be a safety concern and could lead to injury from tripping on the laces or rolling an ankle. Also, in today’s classroom it is common to have over 20 students in a class. If every student constantly needs assistance with tying their shoes, it can be both burdensome and time consuming for the teachers. So what constitutes a properly tied shoe? In the simplest terms, a properly tied shoe is a shoe that stays tied while you are wearing it and is easily untied when you want to take it off. While there are numerous ways to meet this definition of a properly tied a shoe, for the purposes of this assessment we are only going to focus on the most common method, known as the “standard shoelace knot”, or "around the tree shoelace knot" or simply the "bowknot" (see the diagram below, which demonstrates 6 steps that are needed to properly tie this know). It is our belief that if students can master the standard shoelace knot, that they can easily master other variations. The goal of this assessment is to measure whether student have achieved mastery of the standard shoe lace knot.…

Running is a popular activity around the globe. Recreational runners have been shown to be susceptible to injuries; epidemiological studies have shown that 35–56% of all runners develop overuse injuries during one-year period (Braunstein et al., 2010). Knee and the ankle joints are most commonly injured and are linked with one-fifth of running-related injuries (Sinclair, 2014). One of the main reasons behind these injuries is the complex structure of the foot. The human foot involves 26 bones, 33 joints and 19 muscles. The bones are arranged in a way that forms medial longitudinal arch, which makes it ideal for its function of supporting the weight of the body and spreading the forces during the gait. Besides the structure of the bones there is a complex arrangement of both intrinsic and extrinsic muscles, which connects with the somesthetic system of the body to control balance and movement. There is a vicinity of 104 cutaneous mechanoreceptors situated in the foot sole (Franklin et al., 2015).…
