“When you put on a uniform, there are certain inhibitions that you accept”, said Dwight D. Eisenhower. School uniforms first entered the United States of America in 1994 with Long Beach, California adopting the idea (Portner, Jessica). These uniforms vary in what they look like (School Uniforms) and schools with school uniforms have had an increase in safety (Dress Codes) and school academics (School Uniforms and the Courts). School uniforms have many benefits that are helpful for their schools and their students. First, school uniforms vary in their appearance (School Uniforms). Most uniforms have the school’s colors, and a logo is sometimes added to enhance school spirit (Dress for Success). These uniforms make the students look more professional (Dress Codes) which helps out in the future if the students have required standards of what they have to wear to their future job (School Uniforms). School uniforms usually include khakies and a nice shirt for the boys and the girls’ apparel is very similar except they can choose if they want to wear a skirt or not (School Uniforms Outside the United States). Most uniforms also change with the seasons to make the school year more comfortable meaning the school may have short sleeved shirts in the …show more content…
summer and long sleeved shirts in the winter. Uniforms also make everybody look similar (Dress Codes Versus School Uniforms). With school uniforms someone is able to see somebodies personality so much better besides what they wear (Portner, Jessica). Second, safety increases in schools with uniforms (Dress Codes).
There is less domestic violence (School Uniforms) and the selected apparel helps to keep gang member colors and clothing from entering the schools (School Uniforms). It is easier to tell when there is an intruder in the school, which means the school get help faster (School Uniforms). Another reason to have uniforms is for when the school goes on a fieldtrip, the teachers can keep the students together easier so that nobody can wander off (School Uniforms). Statistics have shown that there is less bullying too since nobody can judge one another’s clothing (Dress for Success). School uniforms provide a sense of safety which leads to less
trouble. Third, statistics have shown that schools with uniforms do better academically then schools without uniforms (School Uniforms and the Courts). There has been proof that the students do better on tests and focus better in their classes (School Uniforms). The students do better in class also because there are fewer disturbances which lets the students pay attention to their lessons (School Uniforms). The children are more disciplined, so that they can do the best that they are able (Dress Codes Versus School Uniforms). Also, there are fewer absences so the children are required to keep up with their work in class (School Uniforms). Students with school uniforms do better in school which helps them achieve their goals for the future. Finally, Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “When you put on a uniform, there are certain inhibitions that you accept”. In 1994, school uniforms found their way to Long Beach, California (Portner, Jessica). Different schools have a unique style with their school uniforms (School Uniforms) with more safety (Dress Codes) and better schools in a student’s education (School Uniforms and the Courts). School uniforms have many beneficial elements which helps the school run more efficiently.
