An aircraft catapult is a mechanism used to launch aircraft’s from ships, most commonly used on aircraft carriers, as a form of assisted lift off. It consists of a track built into the flight deck, underneath is a huge piston or shuttle that is connected through the track to the nose gear of the aircraft. The catapult sought war in World War II, and Vietnam war. The catapult has been in a bunch of wars but most famously in those two. Catapult technology was as if not more important than any other weapon used in battle with the enemy. Catapult technology was the reason heavy aircrafts were loaded with machine guns and ready to be set in the air to begin war at a times notice. Sources Cited
