Categories Of Horror Stories
According to Fobes.com, "Sinister” was the number one horror film within the last five years and “…the most terrifying, disturbing, well-acted, perfectly paced horror film…” (Hughes, The Top 10 Horror Films Of The Last Five Years). There are two different categories of horror stories. The first category is fiction. This category was created to relate to the person reading, make it something they believe could happen to them. The second category is psychological. This category was created to get the reader to question the characters sanity. Many people may ask why someone would put themselves through such a suspenseful time reading or watching horror stories. Someone should ask them "Why not? What are you scared of?" I believe many people do

In this story, someone said or did something to the main character that created so much pain and anger they planned a murder. Someone, who could be a good friend, could easily betray your trust and kill you. The main character's plan was well thought out, because the two men were alone where no one could hear the screams. This story falls into the fiction category because it too is something people can imagine happening to them or even doing themselves. One might ask, could this be a ghost story or someone fighting their inner demons. The fact this strange boy is tempting her makes her question what is going on. This story falls into the psychological category because the main character is fighting the urge to go with the boy because she knows it is not the right thing to do. She is eventually given an ultimatum to go or something bad will happen to her family. This boy is her inner desires attempting to get out. She is battling mentally with them.
"The Yellow Wallpaper", by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is the inner crazy, knowing something is wrong, but everyone just keeps saying she was fine. It makes some question their sanity. Not knowing what to believe, thinking "Am I really ok, or are they just telling me this to keep me calm." This story falls into the psychological category because the main character demonstrates the behavior of someone who is mentally unstable, yet her husband tells her there is nothing wrong. She eventually drives herself crazier from being stuck in one
