The goal of Catholic Relief Services is to alleviate poverty and hunger along with helping in times of emergency and with healthcare. They firmly believe in the dignity of others and demonstrate the teachings of the beatitudes. They fight for the oppressed and support those in need; providing the comfort, dignity, and respect that everyone deserves. CRS wants to better the lives of others by helping during times of emergency. They are working to combat disease and hunger and to foster a quality society. They firmly believe that all our blessings come from God, that no one person's actions can create all that CRS stands for. They humbly praise the Lord for success when helping others. CRS also follows the eighth beatitude that talks about being persecuted because of righteousness. It is our responsibility to stand up for those who are persecuted. They believe that everyone has basic rights that should be guaranteed no matter what our social or political circumstances. They believe in working to improve the lives of others through enhancing these rights and securing that they are available to all. We must all be given the opportunity to live up to our full human potential. This potential can only be realized through socializing and through the safety felt when our rights are secured.
