The United States declares war! On December 7, 1941, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, a group of Japanese planes swooped over Pearl Harbor and bombed the U.S. Battleships. The reason for this was that the U.S. told the Japanese that if they bombed the Philippines we would go to war with their country. Therefore they bombed us thinking it would stop us from attacking them and give them an easy shot at hurting the Philippines. But after they bombed the U.S.they bombed the Philippines and we decided to take out two major Japanese cities. It was a scary site for the people of Hawaii. It was an unexpected attack on the U.S. This event started to form when the first planes attacked.
